How to Read Your Tyre
Vehicle manufacturers recommend that you fit like-for-like when it comes to replacing your vehicles tyres. i.e. the same size tyre with the correct speed and load rating as it would have left the factory. Your vehicle hand book will give you the information you require.
The load and speed ratings on tyres are the maximum under specific working conditions. This is why you should always adjust tyre pressures according to the vehicles hand book. This will help you get the best out of your tyres, make you and your family safer, and lead to lower fuel consumption which all helps to reduce your carbon footprint.

Remember to check your tyres and pressures regularly. The law says it is your responsibility to make sure your tyres meet the legal requirements, which is 1.6mm across the central ¾ of the circumference of the whole tyre. Anything less than this could cost you 3 penalty points on your licence and a fine of up to £2500 per tyre. Most manufacturers recommend that tyres be changed at 3mm.
Don't get caught out, go to your nearest Challenger depot and ask a member of the team for a tyre safety check. We will measure and report on the depth of your tyre, check the general condition of your tyre, adjust the pressures if required and all for free. No appointment necessary.
Don't want to pay for air to inflate your tyres or get your hands dirty? Call into Challenger - our air is free and a team member will check your tyre pressures for you while you wait. You can even have a free coffee at the same time and get to know the team at Challenger.

All of our garages in Sheffield and barnsley offer a competitive puncture repair sevice to all types of tyre. For a repair to be made, the puncture needs to be in a permissable area of the tyre (usually the middle 3/4 of the tread).
